Book a private tour of the iconic Halifax Citadel National Historic Site! Your guide, dressed as a mid-Victorian era soldier or soldier’s wife, will show you and your group the fort’s ramparts and rooms as you learn about the history of this star-shaped stone fort and how it served as both a defensive work and a home for soldiers.

Dates & Times

Private tours are available outside regular operating hours. They can be booked after 5:00 pm during our operating season (May 7 to October 31), or anytime during our off-season.

Language

Private guided site tours are available in English or French; please confirm your preferred language at time of booking.

Price

Private tours are $230 (plus tax) per guide. Each guide can accommodate a group of up to approximately 30 guests. For larger groups, multiple guides can run tours concurrently.

Winter Tours

For tours booked during the winter, please note that snow and ice conditions may make some areas inaccessible; however, your guide will strive to ensure your tour is as complete as possible. Tours include outdoor locations and plenty of walking, so remember to bring a warm jacket, hat, and gloves! We reserve the right to cancel tours, with a full refund, in the event of particularly inclement weather.
