Bringing History To Life

At the Halifax Citadel, history isn’t just something you learn. It’s something you experience.

The Halifax Citadel Society is the not-for-profit organization behind many of the programs, events and experiences that bring the site to life. Working in partnership with Parks Canada and the Army Museum, we create opportunities for visitors and the community to connect with Halifax’s past in engaging and unexpected ways.

Ghost Tours

“The Halifax Citadel National Historic Site is a fascinating place full of history and character. The old fortress is very well preserved, and the staff in period uniforms make the experience even more immersive. You can explore the walls, tunnels and museum exhibits that tell the story of Halifax’s military past. The view from the top of the hill is also beautiful — you can see the whole city and harbour. It’s definitely worth visiting if you’re interested in history or just want a great panoramic view of Halifax.”
