Our organization is dedicated to keeping the past alive by providing memorable experiences to visitors from across the globe. We do this through the operation of a living history program at the Halifax Citadel National Historic Site of Canada staffed primarily by high school, college and university-aged men and women. Through employment in this program, and other related on-site enterprises, we give young people a unique opportunity to gain valuable work and life skills while they share stories of the Canadian experience with program participants of all ages and cultural backgrounds.
We are now looking to expand our season, strengthen our programs and increase our number of young participants. To achieve our end, we have set a goal of $100,000 annually in contributions from foundations, corporations and generous people like you.
Donations to the HCS directly contribute to opportunities for young people to gain experience and knowledge that will serve them throughout their lives.
Thank-you for your consideration in supporting our efforts!

THANK-YOU TO ALL OUR DONORS!
“I worked at the Halifax Citadel for five years as a student. It was my first fulltimejob … The disciplined structure of the program, as well as the leadershipexperience I gained set me up for a very successful career in the Canadian Armed Forces … I have subsequently recommended the program to many young people as well as parents, and have received nothing but positive feedback from those who have worked in the program. In fact, I would go so far as to say that the teamwork and leadership experience offered to young adults at the Halifax Citadel through the HCS is among the best in the country.”
